Owing to the comparatively lower cost, Kerala is emerging as a hub for dental tourism as well in South India Tour operators are popularizing this new variety of health tourism by providing packages for treatment and vacation.
Health treatment is costly in most European countries and the compared to this part of the world. Dentistry is unaffordable for average citizens due to expensive dental care services. Dental treatment is generally not reimbursed by the national health schemes of some countries.
Taking a cue from the emerging trends in dental tourism, the Kochi –based Dr. Rajkrishnan’s Dental Clinic, a multi-speciality dental care centre in Tripunithura, is gearing up to tap this potential. The 11-year old clinic has been recently awarded the ISO 9001-2000 certification by BVQI.. “Our aim is to provide quality dental care in the most hygienic environment. We are aiming for NABH accreditation once it is implemented,” Dr.Rajkrishnan said.
The clinic is equipped with technology that is at par with any of the advanced dental clinics overseas.
The centre is always in touch with the times and has latest equipment, which include digital imaging system, radiovisonography, intraoral cameras and teeth whitening machine besides a pathology lab.
